THE GINGERBREAD MAN LOOSE IN THE SCHOOL written by Laura Murray & illustrated by Mike Lowery

The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School

Author Laura Murray has put a new twist on a classic children's story in this fun picture book perfect for reading aloud as a welcome back to school story.

Narrated by the Gingerbread Man himself, the story begins with the line, "I began in a bowl."  He details the ingredients, mixing,  decorating, and baking necessary for him to be able to declare, "I'M A GINGERBREAD MAN!"

The adventure begins when the class is dismissed for recess leaving the Gingerbread Man behind.  His search to rejoin his class takes him through the school hallways.  An unfortunate incident with a volleyball results in a lost toe but a chance meeting with the gym teacher followed by a trip to see the school nurse.

After an encounter with the art teacher and the principal, the Gingerbread Man learns that his class is also searching for him.  Everyone is happily reunited as the Gingerbread Man joyfully announces, "I ran and ran, as fast as I could.  I finally found them!  I knew that I would!"

Laura Murray's lively verse combined with comic book style illustrations by Mike Lowery make this  entertaining and attractive for pre-school through elementary students.  The book comes complete with a poster that includes a gingerbread man recipe, coloring page, and classroom activities on one side and a fun "welcome" poster on the other.
